Camus Morgue

Camus Morgue is a Mage Prodigy and the heir to the Morgue Clan . She visited the Baskerville Family as a child where she met Vikir and grew affection for him. As she grows, she faces challenges emotionally and physically due to the presumed "death" of Vikir.

Appearance[]

Camus is introduced as a striking young girl with vibrant red hair, ruby-colored eyes, a sharp nose, and chubby cheeks. Her youthful appearance belies the fierce intelligence and magical prowess that define her role within House Morgue. Over time, as Camus matures, she grows into a renowned beauty, with an intense, magnetic charm. Her physical presence and reputation make her an object of desire and admiration, yet she uses her looks strategically, often to her advantage in political maneuvers.

Personality[]

Camus embodies the complex legacy of House Morgue—a family known for its brilliant, ruthless mages. From a young age, she shows incredible intelligence and a talent for magic, coupled with an iron will and fierce pride. Initially perceived as brash and headstrong, she matures through experiences of loss, particularly with the disappearance of her ally Vikir. These experiences lead her to develop a quieter, more resolute demeanor and drive her to master magic on the "Dark Side" of her family's faction.

Her relationship with Vikir is both competitive and affectionate, often showcasing her fiery determination. She harbors deep feelings for him, which become clear in moments of vulnerability when she learns of his potential demise. Despite her strength, Camus occasionally reveals a softer, more sentimental side, especially in moments of grief or camaraderie with Vikir.

Factions and Affiliations[]

House Morgue is split into two primary factions:

  1. Light Side - Engaged in practical, outward-facing magic, led by Adolf Morgue.
  2. Dark Side - Focused on the deep study of magic within Morgue, led by the reclusive Snake Morgue.

Originally aligned with the Light Side and her uncle Adolf, Camus eventually defects to the Dark Side, leading to shock within the family. Camus Despair and Search for Vikir[]

After hearing of Vikir’s supposed death, Camus Morgue falls into a deep state of despair. This period marks a profound emotional transformation as she struggles to cope with the loss. Devastated, she isolates herself within the Morgue Clan mansion, and even the clan’s servants notice her grief, seeing her shut herself away, often refusing to eat or interact with others.

Determined not to accept his death without proof, Camus organizes multiple expeditions to the Red and Black Mountains, regions known for their danger and mystery. She leads relentless searches for any trace of Vikir, holding onto the faint hope of finding him alive—or at the very least, retrieving his remains. These searches span years, driven by her love and unwillingness to give up.

Turning to Dark Magic[]

As time passes with no results, Camus becomes increasingly desperate. She eventually decides to abandon her loyalty to the Light Faction, led by her uncle Adolf Morgue, and aligns herself with the Dark Faction under her other uncle, Snake Morgue. Her decision is rooted in a singular, painful motivation: to learn necromancy and the dark arts in the hopes of resurrecting Vikir.

Under the Dark Faction, Camus immerses herself in forbidden magic, mastering it to the point where she earns the title of "Corpse Queen," and got contracted with the Eight Corpse Seere, one of the feared “Ten Corpses” within the faction. This transformation mirrors her inner turmoil, with her voice now hoarse and strained from endless grief, reflecting how deeply her loss has altered her. The journey into dark magic symbolizes the intensity of her love and her willingness to sacrifice her morality for a chance to bring Vikir back.

Reunion and Facing Inner Conflict[]

In a surprising twist, Camus eventually encounters Vikir alive. However, their reunion is anything but joyful. Camus’s years of grief and her immersion in dark magic have left her a changed person, and she confronts Vikir with anger, accusing him of not understanding the depth of her feelings. She reveals her descent into darkness was entirely for him, yet he appears to have moved on, conflicted but resolute.

The tension between Camus and Vikir deepens as Camus becomes aware that Vikir still harbors lingering affection for her, despite his unwavering commitment to his own path and sense of duty. This revelation plunges Camus into a profound and tragic internal conflict, torn between her own dark transformation and the enduring emotions she holds for Vikir. Their strained relationship culminates in a fierce battle within an isolated space during the Academy's festival. As the conflict escalates, Seere, the demon bound to Camus by contract, seizes control of her body, asserting his dominance as per their agreement. However, Camus resists, defying the contract in a desperate attempt to reclaim her autonomy.

In the midst of their intense struggle, Vikir awakens to the power of a Swordmaster, turning the tide of the battle. With his newfound strength, he aids Camus in breaking free from Seere's control. The demon, weakened and rendered powerless, is finally subdued, allowing Camus to take command of Seere. This pivotal moment marks a turning point for Camus, as she gains mastery over the demon and begins to reconcile the conflicting forces within herself.

Resolution and Acceptance[]

In the end, Camus faces the consequences of her choices. She accepts that her initial hope of resurrecting Vikir and reversing death itself was a dream born from her grief. The experience brings her to a painful self-awareness, forcing her to acknowledge that her actions have led her down an irreversible path. Despite everything, she comes to terms with the reality of her journey and Vikir’s unwavering resolve.
